Nikon SB-300 AF Speedlight Flash for Nikon Digital SLR Cameras

Take control of the lighting around you with the Nikon SB-300 AF Speedlight for D-SLRs and hot-shoe equipped Coolpix cameras. Find new inspiration: use the 120° tilting head to bounce the flash off a nearby wall or ceiling (bounce flash), eliminate unwanted shadows on your subject (fill-flash) or illuminate a poorly lit scene with a soft, balanced light tailored to your shot. Shed Light on New Opportunities With the SB-300 AF Speedlight, you’ll enjoy a flash that’s soft and balanced for excellent color, skin tones and lighting throughout your entire composition-not just on your main subject. Use it in bright situations to fill in unwanted shadows (fill-flash), or use its 120° tilt capability to bounce your flash off the ceiling or a nearby wall for even softer, less direct lighting on your subject (bounce technique). Outstanding Flash Precision Nikons i-TTL (intelligent Through-The-Lens) flash coverage technology tailors the characteristic of the flash to the shot. An imperceptible pre-flash fires milliseconds before the main flash to gather information about the scene-shadow areas, subject distance and reflectance. Your i-TTL capable camera and the SB-300 AF Speedlight then work together to achieve the best exposure and white balance setting possible, all in a fraction of a second.

Love this versatile little unit Love this little flash! It’s light, small and so easy to stuff into a pocket and carry. In real world use, it’s quite powerful not-withstanding its modest guide number. It integrates beautifully with Nikon digital SLRs providing very accurate through the lens exposure. The battery seems to last forever, and because it uses easily obtained AAAs (two), they can be replaced anytime and obtained internationally without difficulty – no need for another power adaptor! My only negative observation is that it doesn’t swivel (left or right) but does tilt upward and even backward (slightly) for indirect flash. For the price, weight, size, and versatility, I couldn’t be happier with this. It’s so much more convenient than my SB-800 hunker. It doesn’t replace the newer bigger units, but it’s a great travel flash, especially for the D500 and D810 which don’t have built in flash (it’s way better than the built in flash anyway).

A Little Brother to the SB-400…Still a Nice Flash I had been looking at this compact flash here on Amazon and was curious about the size and the capabilities. I happened to be visiting my local mom and pop camera shop and came across this flash. I was just in look-and-see mode. When the sales person placed this small flash in my hands, I knew I was hooked.I typically carry my Nikon P7800 camera with me in my everyday bag. I popped the flash on my camera and the two became one. The flash is well balanced on my P7800.I went ahead and purchased this flash knowing the limitations. The flash distance is not as strong as my SB-400. The SB-300 uses two AAA batteries versus the SB-400 uses two AA batteries. Not a real issue for me as I always carry extra batteries with me.The portability of this flash is a definite plus. With the flash head pointed up (becomes a slender flash), I can easily store this in a small camera bag or purse. The flash head has greater movement that my SB-400. I can…

A Flash Worth Buying This flash is ideal for me because it is compact and easy to carry with you and have on the camera. I have owned several flashes in the past but they were large and bulky making them hard to carry with you and use on your camera. The flash is great when used in a dark area or as a fill in flash. The head of the flash can be rotated up and down to aim the flash where you need it. I am very pleased with it. We take a LOT of pictures of the family and they are usually in the house. As such if you use the flash on the camera you will get black shadows behind the subject. With this flash you can rotated the flash head and bounce the flash off the ceiling and remove the shadows. Even in daylight you can use the flash to make the picture better.
